The Architect’s Eye

Ask any good architect, and they’ll tell you that it’s not just the big things that matter. The small things carry weight too.
Of course, they care about structure and shape, and they think about cost and regulations. But often, it’s the little things most people never even notice that truly matter to them. Things like where the light falls in the morning. How a door opens into a room. Whether a window frames the view or hides it.
To most, those seem minor. To the architect, they are crucial. Because once the structure is built, some things can’t be changed. Overlook the small stuff now, and it might create lasting discomfort later on.
The same is true in our spiritual lives. We tend to focus on what looks impressive. The big, visible parts of faith. Attending meetings. Giving talks. Keeping doctrine sound. And while those things matter, it’s often the quiet, unnoticed decisions that shape who we truly are.
Jesus said, “He who is faithful in little will be faithful in much” (Luke 16:10). That tells us how much God values the small moments. The thoughts we keep in check. The kind words we choose to speak. The prayers we offer in secret. These are the details He notices.
So today, take another look at the little things. Because in the blueprint of a godly life, nothing is too small for God to care about.
